Many songs were made to show support for our soldiers. Such as Voices That Care, and Over There. Yet some songs like 1916 tell how it feels like to be a soldiers. Some songs can motivate people and they can also make us cry.
1916 is a very sad and depressing song. It shows how kids chose to change their age and fight in the war because of all the propaganda. Then they found out what they got themselves into. Kids as young as 16 signed up as saying that they were eighteen. They were so scared while fighting. In the song it says and I lay in the mud and the guts and the blood. That statement sounds depressing to me. The environment must have been terrible, all the noises, and people lying there dead. You cannot even describe what it must feel like to be a soldier.
Voices That Care is a song to show support to the soldiers from celebrities as a symbol of faith and courage from every one in the United States. When we watched the making of the music video, at the end a women soldier said "I didn't think that people like them would even think of us, that they had busy lives." That statement stuck with me because of the men and women really appreciate that song. I think that that song really does give them a boost of self-esteem because they don't just think that they are doing for no good reason because no one will appreciate it. Empathy is shown to the soldiers then and now. In the song it says, Stand tall, stand proud Voices that care are crying out loud. That sounds so encouraging and loving. The song is a beautiful song.
Over There was a song to encourage people to sign up to fight in the war. It is a song written from the government to the men of the country. It is a song that sounds so happy. That nothing bad is going to happen. That you will go over there. A piece of cake. That isn’t the feeling at all. That song was propaganda from the government. The war that they were getting people to fight in was WWI. Many people did sign up because of this song. This song encourages citizenship by showing how people did sign up for the war because of this song. In the song it says, Over there send a prayer, which means to me to pray for the people because they are fighting for the country.
All three of
these songs have things in common but are very different also. They
all have different feelings. Such as depressing, joyful, and happy.
I think that they are all good songs. They are just ones that you
wouldn't want to listen to all the time.
