People were inspired by many songs Over There was one. Over There was a song written for the government, to make more men want to join the army during WW1. Citizenship would be one concept word to describe this song. Citizenship would work because the song made them proud that that were fighting in the war, and because it told the men that it was their duty and they owed it to their country. The song made them feel like the country really needed them to fight. One quote would be Every son of Liberty Hurry right away don't delay go today. This was a good line because it did make them feel like they were saying right to you. Over There was a happy war song that people sang and it made the war sound like a good thing.
On the other hand 1916 was a sad and depressing song. This song was telling people who weren't at war how terrible WW1 was. 1916 wasn't a happy and cheerful song like Over There. The environment during this song was bad they said that they laid in the blood, mud, and guts. Some lines from 1916 were Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder, A thirst for the Hun, we were food for the gun. This quote is basically saying that they thought that they didn’t have a chance. Another quote would be and nobody remembers our names, And that's how it is for a soldier. This quote means that they fought for their country and in that they hoped that they would be put in history books and remembered. 1916 was not a good song to listen to if you were being forced into going to war.
Voices That Care was a song written by the people who were left behind or the people who didn't go and fight in the war. Voices That Care was written and sent to solders during the Gulf War. The people who wrote the song wrote it because they didn't want the soldiers to think that we forgot about them. The people who wrote the song Voices That Care had great empathy for the men and women fighting for our freedom. This song is also telling all the solders that we want them to come home safe. Quote from Voices That Care would be Stand tall stand proud voices that care are crying out loud. This quote is telling them to hang in there and you'll be coming home soon. Another quote might be I'm not here to justify the cause or to count the loss, that's all been done before. This might mean that they are singing this song not to make it sound like everyone that goes to war will die, and they believe that they will come home safe. They also sung it to support the soldiers. Voices That Care is the type of song that makes people believe if they go to war that they will come home safe, but even if they don't they won't be forgotten.
There are many different feelings people have about war that's why there were so many different types. Over There was one type of war song. This was a happy song that is basically telling you that war was a good thing. 1916 was very different this song was about how bad war was and that people that fought and died and were afraid that they wouldn't be remembered or recognized. Voices That Care is another type of war song. Voices That Care let all the soldiers know that the people left behind (us) didn't forget about them. As you can see there are a diversity of war songs written over time.
