September 11th (Superman) Letter

April, 2002

Dear Engine 7, Ladder 1,

Hello I am in the 7th grade at Edmeston Central. While I was watching the movie 9/11 it brought back the bad memories of September 11th, 2001. I know that I live about 4 ½  to 5 hours away from where the attacks happened, but I have been to New York City. Once I meet someone, or have been somewhere, that person or place becomes my friend and means something special to me.

Ever since I have watched the movie 9/11 I feel you taught me and my class a lot about compassion. Many of my classmates have changed their attitudes about firemen, medical helpers, and police. They are heroes in our lives everyday.

On September 11th one of my mom and dad's friends from college died in the attack. I know that you tried your hardest in each and every way to save every one you could. I'm not writing to make you feel bad about those you could not help. I'm writing to do the exact opposite. Thank you so much, everyone appreciates your heroic deeds on September 11th.

God bless,
