Original Poem

One Frightful Day

On that frightful day
The bells rang
"Come quickly" they would say
Sirens cried
"Something has happened today"
For someone has tried
To take our freedom away

On that frightful day
Hundreds of men went up the stairs
Looking for anyone still trapped up there
Some went up and came back down
And left the building safe and sound
But some went up and were never found

On that day men became heroes
Saving innocent lives
Men saw what no one should
While giving the world all they could

On that day Buildings came down
And there was dust and dirt all around
And from the debris
There is an eagle that we see
But it could not soar without the help
Of the New York City Fire Department
And it's brave firemen
